For the past 20 years, the Marblehead Community Housing Corporation has been quietly pursuing its mission of developing and managing affordable housing in Marblehead.

Now, the organization will pause to celebrate its accomplishments while raising funds for its future efforts at an event at The Landing Restaurant Tuesday, April 26, 6-8:30 p.m.

The MCHC plans to honor influential early supporters, including Barry Weed, David Stern, National Grand Bank and Marblehead Bank.

The MCHC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, which works in conjunction with the Marblehead Board of Selectmen’s Fair Housing Committee. Since its inception, the MCHC has rehabilitated and managed various properties, including the Sewall Building, a four-unit affordable apartment building that has housed almost 50 residents over the last 18 years.

Current board members include Dirk Isbrandtsen, president; Kurt James, clerk; Paul Crosby, treasurer; Bonnie Howard, secretary; and directors Andrew Christensen, Ann Cohen, Don Davies, Sarah Drewry, Mimi Hollister, Gordon King and Joan McIntyre.

The MCHC also provided first-time-homebuyer assistance to over one dozen moderate-income families purchasing affordable condominiums and purchased, rehabilitated and resold two affordable condominiums in Marblehead.

The cost of the MCHC Charity Night and 20-Year Celebration is $25 per person in advance, $30 at the door, and will include hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar, along with an auction. Attendees who stay for dinner will have 20 percent of their bill donated to MCHC by The Landing.
